Toshiba TS-H652D
Review
CD TESTS1 - CAPABILITIES
CD-ROM READ

For our first test we tested
the drives ability to handle pressed
CD-ROMs.
As you can see from above, the drive
managed an average speed of 37.62 using CAV. Towards the end of the
CD it managed 49.94x,
with good low cpu usage.
CD-R READ

The Toshiba didn't
have too much trouble reading our
CD-R test media. The drive averaged
a data reading speed
of 31.44 and like
most drives it couldnt read recorded
CDs as well as pressed CD-ROMs
- a fair performance.
CD-RW DATA READ

We next tested a CDRW
disk - the drive had no problems
with it averaging 31.49
speed, a good performance. There
isn't much difference between the
two drives.
CD-ROM
AUDIO READ

For this test we used a pressed AUDIO-CD and examined the drive's
ability to read audio.
The drive performs well in this
test with a perfect 10 score accurate
stream and averaged
28.51 x speed -
it peaked at 37.83 speed (toward
the end of the disk). The LG GSA
H12N is a fair bit faster in this
test.
CD-R ADVANCED DAE QUALITY

Next we used CDSpeeds
advanced DAE test. The drive managed
an average speed of 29.32 and
it's quality was 100 (perfect).
The
TS-H652D is capable of reading CD-TEXT and
reading subchannel data but can
not read data from the leadin and
lead-out areas. As shown above,
the drive is very good for on
the fly reading and managed
the full x16 speed.
CD-R 99Min READING

99min media was no problem for this
drive, the Toshiba read it without
difficulty and averaged 33.72 speed.
C2
ERROR REPORTING
If your drive can report
C2 information then it will be faster
and more accurate at ripping audio.
We used Exact Audio Copy 0.95
b5's "Detect Read Features" option
to examine what the drive could do:
